How is lactic acid produced from exercise?

Answer 1

The muscular fatigue during exercise is the accumulation of lactic acid.

The physiologists conclude that the build-up of lactic acid is the cause of muscular fatigue during exercise because the muscle fibers exhibit high concentrations of lactate and acid (hydrogen) ions.

Answer 2

During intense exercise, when the oxygen supply to muscle cells is insufficient to meet their energy demands, the cells switch from aerobic to anaerobic metabolism. In this anaerobic state, glucose is broken down into pyruvate through glycolysis. Pyruvate is then converted into lactic acid by an enzyme called lactate dehydrogenase. This process helps regenerate NAD+ so that glycolysis can continue, providing a rapid but limited source of ATP (energy) for muscle contractions.
