Nuclear Fusion is the typical energy creation process in a star such as our Sun.

Nuclear Fusion is a process of fusing Hydrogen to form Helium. The process is actually completed in 3 steps. Hydrogen to Deuterium, Deuterium to helium 3 and Helium 3 to Helium. The main process is the creation of Deuterium, once you have deuterium you can have other elements too. The maximum energy difference produced in a fusion reaction can be achieved by going from hydrogen(The least Stable element) to Iron (The Most stable element). Actually the energy released is because of the difference in masses of the initial and final elements and can be deduced by #E = MC^2#
