Because it literally filters everything that your body ingests—food, alcohol, drugs, and even your own blood—the liver is a crucial organ for the digestive system.

When you overindulge in drugs, alcohol, and fast food, your body is forced to work harder than it needs to, which can cause tissue scarring or fat accumulation. This is why liver disease is related to what you have eaten or breathed in.

A person with fatty liver may have consumed a lot of low-density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol) foods, such as fast food; someone with liver cirrhosis, which can lead to hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer); someone who used drugs excessively and for an extended period of time; someone who inhaled solvents for a long time may have developed liver tuberculosis; and someone who experienced liver failure due to prolonged liver absorption.

As you can see, the liver will always make amends and make an effort to save the person to whom it is attached, but the person must also take responsibility for not abusing the liver and must control the amount of food and/or medication they consume.
