What is the excretory function of the urinary system?

Blood is first transported by the arteries to the kidneys, where it is processed by the kidneys to remove nitrogenous waste (urea), salts, and extra water. The waste is then transported by the ureters to the bladder, where it is held until it is excreted via the urethra.
