Tundra ecosystems are treeless regions found in the Arctic and on the tops of mountains, where the climate is cold, windy and rainfall is scant.

The primary producers are low-lying plants. While primary consumers are insects, artic hares, mountain goats, sheep, marmots and birds.

Secondary consumers are fewer, of course, and include Artic foxes, gray wolves and polar bears.

Also associated with the tundra is permafrost. This means that the ground never really unfreezes. There will be ponds and puddles everywhere.
