What organelles can be found in a fully mature red blood cell?

Answer 1

Mammalian erythrocytes ( RBC ) are unique among the vertebrates as they are non - nucleated cells in their mature form.

They have nuclei in the early stages of erythropoiesis, but as they develop and mature, they extrude them to make more room for hemoglobin.

All other cellular organelles, including the mitochondria, golgi apparatus, and endoplasmic reticulum, are lost by these enucleated red blood cells.

Mature red blood cells lack nuclei and organelles, which prevents them from containing DNA and from synthesizing RNA. As a result, they are unable to divide and have limited capacity for repair.

No virus can develop to target mammalian red blood cells because they are incapable of performing protein synthesis.

These cells don't use any of the oxygen they carry because they lack mitochondria.
