What is the relationship between oxygen and carbon dioxide in the respiration process?

Answer 1

Humans breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. Plants take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen.

We breathe in oxygen which is used in aerobic respiration to get energy from glucose. Carbon dioxide is a waste product of cellular respiration .

Answer 2

In the respiration process, oxygen is inhaled and enters the bloodstream, where it is transported to cells throughout the body. Within the cells, oxygen is used for cellular respiration, a process that generates energy. As a byproduct of cellular respiration, carbon dioxide is produced. Carbon dioxide then diffuses out of the cells into the bloodstream and is transported back to the lungs. In the lungs, carbon dioxide is exhaled, completing the respiratory cycle. Thus, oxygen is taken in and carbon dioxide is expelled during respiration.
