What is the purpose of extinction?

There is no purpose of extinction. Extinction is the end of a species.

Extinction is the end of a species as a result of a natural disaster; for example, the meteorite impact that wiped out the dinosaurs. Predation is another cause of extinction; in Mauritius, the dodo became extinct due to human consumption. Number instability: if a species' population falls below the threshold for survival, the species is likely to go extinct. Genetically unfit: Some species, especially those found in zoos, are unable to adapt to their new environment. In other words, there is no purpose to extinction.
