Plasma is a pale yellow coloured liquid that makes up about 55% of the total blood volume.

It mostly contains water. Plasma acts as a medium of transport for proteins , clotting factors, hormones, carbon dioxide, glucose and electrolytes needed by the human body.

Plasma plays a vital role in intra vascular osmotic effect that , keeps electrolytes in balanced form and protects the body from infection and other blood disorders.
