What is an integral membrane protein? What is its function?

Answer 1

Proteins which run along the whole phospholipids layer.

Integral proteins are cell membrane proteins that are fully enmeshed in the phospholipid bilayer; they contain both hydrophilic and hydrophobic regions; the hydrophobic region should touch the hydrophobic tails, while the hydrophilic region is exposed to the watery environment.

Among the essential proteins are channel and carrier proteins.

Their primary role is to act as a gate to facilitate easier active or passive transportation by allowing polar and large molecules to cross the membrane that is impeded by the phospholipid bilayer.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
