What glands are known as sweat glands?

Sweat glands are also known as sudoriferous or sudoriparous glands.

These are tiny tubular structures found in the skin that secrete sweat. Sweat regulates body temperature, acts as a conduit for the excretion of water and electrolytes, and preserves the acid mantle of the skin. There are two types of sweat glands: 1) eccrine glands, which are found throughout the body in different densities; 2) apocrine glands, which are restricted to the axilla and perianal regions of the human body. Modified apocrine sweat glands include ceruminous glands (ear wax), mammary glands (milk), and ciliary glands (found in the eyelids).
