Support: The skeleton's bones give the human body as a whole structural support.

Protection: The majority of the body's soft tissues are shielded by bony structures. For example, the brain is protected by the skull, while the heart and lungs are shielded by the rib cage.

Movement: The different body parts move voluntarily thanks to the connections between the bones and muscles.

Blood cell production: The bone marrow, which is found in the long bones, is where blood cells are made.

Mineral homeostasis: The body uses the calcium and phosphorus that are stored in the bones to release these minerals into the bloodstream when needed.
