What are some examples of diffusion?

Answer 1

Diffusion occurs whenever you see a substance spreading gradually.

This can also occur when one gas diffuses into another. For example, if you leave a perfume bottle open, the entire room will soon smell due to diffusion. You may also have experienced flatulence that has made its way into other people's nostrils.

In terms of liquids, pour yourself a cup of tea, literally, and watch it brew; the "tea" (or, more accurately, the tea's tannins) will begin strongest in the vicinity of the tea leaves and then diffuse outward.

Diffusion always happens randomly, regardless of the kind, and it will keep going until a dynamic equilibrium is reached.
