Is genetically modified food ethical?

I believe it is

Plants have been genetically altered by humans since the dawn of agriculture.

Crossbreeding is the oldest form of genetic modification; as it is a (nearly) entirely natural process, no harm is done, in my opinion. The "old" methods (still used today) involved combining two plants with favorable traits together to form a better strain. For example, imagine growing apples and having two variants: one with large and delicious apples, but which grow at a normal speed, and a variant with quick growing but normal apples. If I were to combine these two to make a new variant that has large apples and grows quickly, that would be great.

Food that has been altered genetically, particularly transgenics, is a little more debatable. While I think transgenics are morally acceptable, they shouldn't be randomly introduced into ecosystems to avoid disruptions or harm. Many transgenics are very helpful, such as "Golden Rice," which produces vitamin A (regular rice doesn't), or crops that are more drought-resistant.
