How is facilitated diffusion and diffusion through ion channels similar?

Answer 1

facilitated diffusion is one type of transport through ion channels.

if transport through ion channel is done down concentration gradient (high to low concentration) then it is facilitated diffusion, and if it is done up concentration gradient (low to high concentration), then it is active transport which requires ATP.

Here is a video which illustrates how membrane proteins are involved in the process of facilitated diffusion.

Answer 2

Moles moving from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration across a cell membrane are involved in both facilitated diffusion and diffusion via ion channels.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
