How does electromagnetic radiation affect plants?

One effect I know of is that plants use light (EM radiation) to perform photosynthesis and, basically, store energy for future use.

Energy from Sunlight is used by plants to convert water and carbon dioxide into sugar that can be used later and converted back into energy to be used by the plant.
