Did the Big Bang explosion travel faster than light?

Answer 1

Yes the "Big Bang" itself did , but matter was bound by relativistic limitations.

The Big Bang itself expanded much faster than the speed of light. But this only means that "nothing can go faster than light." Since nothing is just empty space or vacuum, it can expand faster than light speed since no material object is breaking the light barrier.

Answer 2

The expansion of the universe after the Big Bang occurred at speeds much faster than the speed of light, but not because of objects themselves traveling through space at that speed, according to current understanding of physics. No, the Big Bang explosion did not travel faster than light.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
