Where in plant cells do lysosomal activities occur?

Answer 1

Generally in plant cells lysosomal activities are carried out by spherosomes, vacuoles, and aleurone grains which together are known as plant lysosomes.

Because spherosomes are single membrane-bound organelles that contain multiple hydrolytic enzymes and are also sites of lipid synthesis, scientists refer to them as lysosomes.

As lysosomes play multiple roles in the cell's synthetic processes and change the nature of their enzyme contents at different times within the same cell, scientists have recently proposed that the majority of the vacuolar components of the cell are actually part of the lysosome.

Plant cells do not have lysosomes; instead, they have structures called lytic vacuoles that are similar to lysosomes and have related functions.
