What do clotting proteins include?

Answer 1

There are thirteen clotting factors.

The elements are listed in the following order:

I. Fibrinogen

  1. Prothrombin

III. Thromboplastin in tissue

IV. Calcium ions (#"Ca"^(2+)#)

V. Labile factor, or proaccelerin

VI. Unknown

Proconvertin (stable factor), seventh

VIII. Factor A antihaemophilic

IX. Christmas factor, or antihaemophilic factor B

X. Factor Stuart-Prower

XI. Ancestral plasma thromboplastin

XII. The Hageman component

XIII. Stabilizing factor for fibrin

These elements all combine to cause blood to clot.

Blood clotting is essentially the result of a series of enzymes known as clotting factors, each of which is necessary for clotting to occur.

Hemophilia A and B, which are frequently encountered cases, stem from deficiencies in clotting factors VIII and IX, respectively.
