Sunspots are the darker and cooler regions on the surface of the sun.

The Sunspots are present in the Sun's photo sphere and are temporary. The photo sphere has a temperature of 5,800 degrees. They look brighter only as compared to other regions of the sun.

They are caused due to the concentrations of magnetic field flux that inhibit convection. They usually occur in the opposite magnetic polarity.

Sunspots can be very large upto 50,000 kilometers in diameter.
THey may be single or many and could also last upto a few days or for a couple of weeks. They are caused due to the interactions with the Sun's magnetic field and the interaction is certainly unknown as nothing could near to it.
