Governments can and often do impose acceptable pollutant limits; businesses can then use technology or, in some cases, emissions permits to meet this law; companies or individuals can also voluntarily reduce their pollutants before government has to impose laws; and some people are starting to boycott companies that pollute heavily, even if the company is within the legal limit. These are some of the ways that pollution can be reduced.
