Muckrakers are a group of writers, journalists, and critics who exposed corporate malfeasance and political corruption in the first decade of the 20th century.

Jacob Riis was a reporter who pointed out the terrible conditions of immigrants in the tenement houses of the big cities. Also, he wrote How The Other Half Lives. How The Other Half Lives was a book that documented tenement houses' living conditions.

Ida Tarbell exposed the corruption of the oil industry with her book A History of Standard Oil.
