What is the the subject and predicate in each sentence? Why?

1) The bunnies like to play in the sunshine, and they will often come right up to you if you offer them something to eat.

2) The issue that I want to discuss with you is difficult to talk about because it is so contentious.

3) In the middle of the movie, the man who was sitting in front of me stood up and he refused to sit down again.

Answer 1

A subject is the part of a sentence that performs a verb( an action) in a sentence.

The predicate is the part of a sentence that contains the verb.

For instance, in the sentences "He likes to play" and "Sara loves flowers," HE and Sara are the subjects because they are the ones carrying out the action and executing the performance.

For instance, in the sentences "He likes to play" and "Sara loves flowers," the predicates are "likes to play" and "loves flowers," respectively. The verb "likes" and the remainder of the sentence are not the subject.

First, "they" (subject) and "will often come right up to you" (predicate); second, "you" (subject) and "offer them something to eat" (predicate). The bunnies are the subject and "like to play in the sunshine" is the predicate.

2)"The issue"(subject) "I want to discuss with you is difficult to talk about because "it"(subject) is so contentious"(Predicate)

The subject "the man who" (predicate) "was sitting" (subject) in front of "me" (subject) "stood up" (predicate) and "he" (subject) "refused to to sit down again" (predicate).
