How did Pangaea affect life?

Answer 1

In general, when continents come together species diversity tends to go down and when big continents start to break up, species diversity tends to increase.

There tend to be fewer species when there are land bridges or connections between continents because organisms tend to roam around in search of new habitats; however, there tend to be more specialized species adapted to these unique environments when there are more islands or separate land masses.

For instance, a recent study suggests that T. rex might have once crossed a land bridge during the Cretaceous and turned into "an invasive species." This could also have led to the emergence of several new species that are similar to T. rex.

Answer 2

Pangaea impacted life by forming large terrestrial habitats and changing ocean currents, which in turn affected climate patterns and species distribution. It also made it easier for species to migrate and evolve, which resulted in a greater diversity of life forms. Finally, Pangaea's formation helped to create distinct ecosystems and the emergence of new species through processes of isolation and adaptation.
