Call the cost of one t-shirt #t# and one short #s#, you get:

#3t+2s=42.5# #5t+3s=67.5#

we solve for #t# and #s#: From the first:

#t=(42.5-2s)/3#

into the second:

#5(42.5-2s)/3+3s=67.5#

#212.5-10s+9s=202.5#

#s=$10#

giving:

#t=(42.5-2*10)/3=$7.5#
