Nixon was elected president a LBJ's Vice Preseident was too unpopular because of the war in Vietnam to be elected. The Democratic Convention in Chicago was wrecked by eight activists,among whom Abbie Hoffman, Tom Hayen and Jerry Rubin.

The Tet Offensive had been a turning point in the war and the demonstrators radicalized.
