We are fortunate that the earth is 23.5 degrees from the solar plane, as no one can explain why our seasons occur as a result.

A degree or two more would probably be disastrous, meaning that at the height of summer in either the southern or northern hemisphere, not only would summer length for the poles increase, but it would probably also mean the end of the polar caps, which are essential to the north-south-north ocean currents.

The growing seasons for people in the more northern climes would be drastically altered by one or two degrees less; overall, heat would shift northward or southward, depending on the hemisphere, but this could result in the expansion of already-existing deserts as well as the potential for the creation of new ones.
