Why is outer space devoid of gases?

Right, first of all there are gases in space, you hear about the clouds of gases & dust in space I am sure?

Just this gas is spread out.

Although they are not in the massive mixtures that make up our atmosphere, there are still gases in space. These gases are made up of particles and atoms that move around similarly to our own atmospheres, but they are very sparsely distributed. This does not mean that sounds cannot be heard from space, but you will need a very sensitive microphone to pick up anything like this.

The best example is a black hole. When scientists previously pointed one of these microphones at a black hole in the center of a galaxy, they recorded the lowest sound ever recorded in the universe: 57 octaves below middle C on a piano, or a frequency more than a million billion times below what is audible to human ears.

Outer space is devoid of gases because of the extremely low pressure. Space is a near-vacuum, with an average density of less than one atom per cubic meter. Gas molecules are spread out over vast distances and are unable to form a significant concentration due to the lack of gravitational forces to hold them together. Additionally, any gases that do exist in space tend to disperse rapidly due to the absence of atmospheric pressure.
