You also have a population growth rate of 0.01. The following year, your population will have increased to 10 million 100 thousand. Now, let me calculate the total energy needed for this country both at the beginning and after a year:

One year later, 10.1 million * 10 bulbs * 50 Watts = 5.05 billion Watts. Rate of increase = If this country (Canada, for example) forbids regular bulbs and encourages energy-efficient bulbs:

A year later, 10 million * 10 bulbs * 20 Watts equals 2 billion Watts, and 10.1 million * 10 bulbs * 20 Watts equals 2.02 billion Watts.
