Why is bacterial transformation used?

Answer 1

Bacterial transformation is one of the many ways of today to create recombinant DNA -- in which genes from two different sources are combined together and placed into the same molecule or organism.

Bioremediation and medicine both frequently use bacterial transformations.

Medicine: By using transgenic bacteria that can quickly and precisely clone themselves, scientists have been able to artificially stimulate the bacteria to uptake specific chosen genes and then incorporate them into their genome. These bacteria can express the foreign genes by producing proteins and can produce large quantities of these proteins.

Bioremediation is the process of using specific transgenic bacteria, fungi, bacteria, and other microbes to break down petroleum products and decompose various types of waste.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
