Why aren't there very many trees in the grasslands biome?
There isn't much water.
It is actually very difficult for trees to become permanent settlers in grasslands biomes because grass grows and reproduces so quickly during the growing season; in fact, grass really only needs a single streak of rain to sprout, grow, and reproduce.
Since most of the year in a grassland is a barren desert for them, trees require consistent watering for long periods of time before they even produce seeds, which hardly ever germinate and even fewer of them survive to grow at all.

The grasslands biome typically lacks many trees due to factors such as frequent wildfires, insufficient rainfall, and grazing by herbivores. These environmental conditions favor the growth of grasses over trees, as grasses are better adapted to surviving in open, sunny areas with limited water availability and are more resilient to grazing and fire damage compared to trees. Additionally, the soil in grasslands is often nutrient-rich but shallow, which further inhibits the growth of trees with deep root systems.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
