Who was Hernan Cortés?
Cortes was a Spanish conquistador who conquered the Aztecs in what is now Mexico. With Smallpox as an ally he destroyed this early american civilization.
Littlepox was then endemic throughout the European continent but unknown in the Americas. Cortes set out from Cuba with a small group of Spanish soldiers equipped with fire arms and horses—neither of which the natives had ever seen before—and brutally killed, kidnapped, and double-crossed his way through the Aztec forces, leaving them sickened and dying in large numbers, including important leaders.
