Which large landform in East Africa was created by the separation of tectonic plates?
The Great Rift Valley
The Great Rift Valley is the result of a divergent boundary. There are two plates that are being pushed and pulled apart in the rift valley. This same divergent boundary is responsible for the formation of the Red Sea, The gulf of Aquba and the Dead Sea.
According to the theory of plate tectonics, there is an upwelling of a convection current. As the magma rises at the divergent boundary the semi liquid mantle moves in to opposite directions. This sideways movement creates the Great Rift Valley, the volcanic mountains of Mt. Kenya, Mt. Kilamanjaro. and the creation of small oceans.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
