The Earth as we know it will come to an end some time in the next 5 billion years.

Massive volcanoes or weapons of mass destruction have the potential to drastically alter the planet's climate and render some areas uninhabitable.

The likelihood that Earth will be struck by a large enough asteroid or comet to trigger an Extinction Level Event increases with time; hopefully, by then, we will have the technology to deflect the incoming object.

The Milky Way Galaxy and the Andromeda Galaxy will collide in approximately 4 billion years. Should another star approach the solar system, it could cause disruptions to Earth's orbit, pushing it outside the habitable zone, or cause something to collide with Earth.

Eventually, the Sun will reach its red giant stage in roughly 5 billion years. At that point, Earth will be either very close to the Sun or even inside it, with the oceans boiling off and the surface turning molten. The Sun will swell up to roughly the size of the Earth's orbit.
