The North American Free Trade Agreement is a deal to insure free trade between Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Countries often create barriers to trade to protect farmers and industries (and the jobs they support) from International competition. Free trade is meant to insure that products compete free of custom tariffs that would limit the flow of goods between signatory nations. NAFTA greatly increased International trade in North America between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
