What was Andrija Mohorovicic's major contribution to geology?

Answer 1

Andrija Mohorovicic discovered the boundary between the crust and the mantle.

Mohorovicic's principal accomplishment, for which he is renowned, is the identification of the discontinuity between the crust and the mantle.

Mohorovicic used empirical evidence from a significant earthquake that occurred in Croatia in 1909 to determine the separation between the mantle and the crust as well as the mantel and the core.

This significant finding was just one of his many contributions to the field of geology; he also established the Mohororovic Law, a mathematical function that calculates the velocity of seismic waves; devised a better seismograph; and used his expertise to define the fundamentals of constructive earthquake-safe building design.

There should be much more known about Andrija Morhorovic than just the so-called Moho boundary between the earth's crust and mantle.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
