#G_2# This phase is generally considered to be the gap between the #S# phase and mitosis or cell division. The cell continues to grow and new DNA is checked for errors. The cell makes final preparations for cell division, such as the production of the protein tubulin that is needed to make microtubules for the mitotic spindle.
