There are four terrestrial planets and many terrestrial-like moons in our solar system. According to planetary geologists who have studied images of these planets taken through telescopes or from exploratory satellites, none of these planets or moons show the effects of plate tectonics.

As a result, asthenosphere can rise at mid-ocean ridges and move out of the way of subducting plates. The mantles of Mercury, Mars, the Moon, and Venus appear to be unable to flow like that of Earth, which means that these planets lack active volcanoes, continental drift, and sea-floor spreading. The Earth appears to be the only body in the solar system to experience plate tectonics.

However, at a warmer time earlier in the history of the solar system, Mars and Venus did have volcanoes, possibly similar to Earth's hot-spot volcanoes; in fact, Venus's fault pattern suggests that plate-tectonics-like movement struggled to form but was never able to succeed.

The Jovian planets are primarily made of gas, so it is unlikely that they have a hard lithosphere. Interestingly, however, some of Saturn's and Jupiter's moons show signs of plate tectonics; in fact, the Galileo satellite captured an image of a volcano erupting on Jupiter's moon Io in 1996. However, these volcanoes are caused by melting processes other than plate tectonics.
