What part of the energy transfer chain should you eat?

Answer 1

I've just changed your question. Basically, you'd want to eat a producer, so you would get the most energy out of it.

A producer receives all of its energy directly from the sun; consequently, eating the producer will maximize the amount of energy that is stored in food because it is concentrated. In contrast, eating a cow would result in less energy being obtained from the grass it has eaten because the cow has lost less energy through excretion, warming itself, growing, breathing, and metabolism. Therefore, you would need to eat more cows in order to obtain the same amount of energy from the grass as you require.

I hope this is useful.

Answer 2

You should eat producers, which are organisms that can produce their own energy through photosynthesis or chemosynthesis. These include plants, algae, and some bacteria.
