Global climate change accelerates frequency of serious storms

About half of all people live in coastal areas, which are vulnerable to cyclones and hurricanes. Warming ocean waters (I found a 2 degrees Celsius water temperature increase at Dardanelles (Turkey) between 1987 and 2008) could feed more energy into high-magnitude storms, resulting in a remarkable increase in their frequency.

The greenhouse effect is predicted to cause global climate change, which will result in wetter winters, hotter but drier summers, more frequent large storms, and a higher risk of droughts in the northern temperate latitudes (Botkin and Keller, 2003).
