What is the unit rate of 3.5 pages in 2 hours?
As mentioned above by Sabrina, the answer is in fact 1.75 when you divide 3.5 by 2.
However, here on Socratic, we try our best to explain the answer, as simply an answer will get you partial credit on an assessment (at least with my experience) and nowhere in life.
Anyway, the unit rate means we need to find how many pages can be read (presumably) in ONE hour.
To find that, simply divide 2 by itself to get one, and do the same to 3.5, which will give you 1.75.
We divide both numbers by 2 becuase we can think of this rate (3.5 pages in 2 hours) as a fraction:
And whatever operation you perform on the numerator, the same goes for denominator.
So we get, as the unit rate, 1.75 pages in 1 hour, or 1.75 pages/hour.
Sorry for the lengthy explanation, but I hope this helps you understand. :)
