What is the most likely effect a decrease of plant life in the biosphere would have on the atmosphere?

Answer 1

Increased amounts of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere
Leading to drastic change in the climate and catastrophic effects on all living beings

Plants absorb the CO2 in the atmosphere most of of which is produced by the industrial production processes. They take in carbon dioxide and give oxygen thus maintaining the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Due to plants floods and various catastrophes can be prevented. The rainforest which are being destroyed daily are the sinks for carbon dioxide and lungs for the whole earth. If the amount of green house gases keeps increasing the earth's temperature will rise and lead to global warming and climate change therefore plants should be saved in order to sustain life on earth

Answer 2

A decrease in plant life in the biosphere would likely result in a decrease in the rate of photosynthesis, leading to a decrease in the uptake of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. This could contribute to an increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, potentially leading to an enhanced greenhouse effect and global warming. Additionally, there may be a reduction in oxygen production, which could impact the balance of atmospheric gases and affect overall air quality.

Answer 3

The most likely effect of a decrease in plant life in the biosphere on the atmosphere would be an increase in carbon dioxide (CO2) levels. Plants play a crucial role in the process of photosynthesis, during which they absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and convert it into oxygen (O2) and organic compounds.

With fewer plants, there would be a reduction in the rate of photosynthesis, leading to less CO2 being removed from the atmosphere. This imbalance could result in higher concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere, contributing to the greenhouse effect and potentially leading to climate change and global warming. Additionally, a decrease in plant life could also impact other atmospheric processes such as oxygen production and regulation of humidity levels.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
