What is the difference of usage between 'centre' and 'center'?

Answer 1

I'm from Canada and use "centre" and "theatre" all the time and my American dictionary flags it as an error.

It is acceptable in different places. In Canada and England it is acceptable to spell labour, glamour, and humour but only glamour works in the American spellcheck. Load a different English Dictionary and you'll get different spellings.

The last letter of the alphabet is "zee" in America, "zed" in Britain and either way in Canada.

"You say tomato, I say tomato." (Its a song you say the word "tomato" differently in Britain to the United States)
