London dispersion forces are very weak forces that exist between nonpolar molecules.

The strongest dipole-dipole bonds are hydrogen bonds, which occur when hydrogen is directly bonded to either nitrogen, oxygen, or flourine. Hydrogen bonds are the most powerful dipole-dipole bonds because they are formed between polar molecules, and because polar molecules have slight charges, their force is more akin to ions, giving them a moderately strong bond.

Ions are packed into crystals by ionic crystallization, and those crystals are incredibly difficult to break.
