What is the difference between a motor and somatic response?

A somatic response is voluntary, a motor response may or may not be.

The somatic nervous system is the nervous system responsible for voluntary control of muscles. This includes breathing, because although the muscles can continue moving unconsciously, those same muscles are used for speech, which is voluntary.
