What is one commercial use of alcoholic fermentation?
Ask the brewing industry......which these days is a huge concern, and a major lobbier of governments..
Humanity has always sought release thru drink, and these days it is a very big industry.
Grains and fruits are thus converted to beers and wines......and these products when redistilled give brandies and whiskies. And when these spirits are properly stored and aged they become very high value commodities.
Now it is true that the abuse of alcohol is a major societal problem. And yet at one time, not so long ago, alcohol would be the only medicine you could get. It might not cure you, but it would make you happy.
I have said the same thing here.

One commercial use of alcoholic fermentation is in the production of alcoholic beverages such as beer, wine, and spirits. During alcoholic fermentation, yeast converts sugars (such as glucose and maltose) into ethanol and carbon dioxide in the absence of oxygen. This process is utilized in the production of alcoholic beverages, where yeast is added to a mixture of sugars and other ingredients to ferment and produce alcohol. The type of beverage produced depends on factors such as the type of yeast used, the fermentation conditions, and additional ingredients added to the mixture. Alcoholic fermentation is a crucial step in the production of various alcoholic beverages, contributing to their flavor, aroma, and alcoholic content.
