Neutron star is a compact object.

Is a final state in star evolution of a star more massive than #1.4 M_(sun)#. Neutron star are mostly made of neutrons, in the nucleus we find pions or pi mesons. On the surface some nuclear reaction still occurs, so there are some protons, electrons and hydrogen or helium.

A neutron star is primarily composed of densely packed neutrons. This composition results from the collapse of the core of a massive star during a supernova explosion. Neutron stars also contain small amounts of protons, electrons, and other subatomic particles, but their densities are extremely high, making neutrons the dominant constituent.
