What is chlorophyll found in?

Answer 1

Chlorophyll is a plant pigment which is green in colour. This is responsible for the green colour of the leaves.

A cell organelle known as chloroplasts is found in the cells of young stems and leaves, and it contains the pigment known as chlorophyll.

Answer 2

Green plants, in the chloroplasts of the plant.

Chlorophyll is found in the chloroplasts in the plants' leaves. It is responsible for giving the plant its beautiful green colour. Chlorophyll plays a huge role in the plant, and also gives the plant its autotrophic ability. By allowing the absorption of sunlight, the plant is then allowed to photosynthesise, which is a process where plants make food.

Note that some prokaryotes also have chlorophyll, such as cyanobacteria, and are therefore capable of producing their own food as well.

The balanced chemical equation for photosynthesis is:

#6CO_2(g)+6H_2O(l)stackrel("sunlight")stackrel("chlorophyll")->C_6H_12O_6(aq)+6O_2(g)#
The glucose #(C_6H_12O_6)# produced is then turned into #ATP# for energy usage in the cells.

Answer 3

Chloroplasts

Chlorophyll is found in the Chloroplasts present in plants & algae & also in cyanobacteria. Chlorophyll is the green coloured pigment which helps them in photosynthesis and manufacturing of food. This is responsible for the green color of the leaves.
