What does balanced force mean?
Two forces which are equal in magnitude but opposite in directions are called balanced forces.
A system is said to be in equilibrium when it is subjected to two forces that are equal in magnitude but act in opposite directions. For example, when we place a book on a table, it is subjected to two forces: 1. The upward force that the book exerts on itself in an upward direction; and 2. The force of gravity that the earth exerts on the book in a downward direction. This is because, in accordance with Newton's third law, "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction," the gravitational force will pull the book downward, but the book itself exerts a force that is equal in magnitude but opposite in direction to counteract the effects of the force of gravity. As a result of these two balanced forces, the book remains at rest.
