Golgi body is involved in processing a broad range of cellular constituents , that travel along the secretory pathway.

A variety of proteins that come from the endoplasmic reticulum are processed by the Golgi body before being sorted and moved to secretory granules, the plasma membrane, or lysosomes.

The Golgi complex in plant cells is also responsible for the synthesis of complex polysaccharides.

The Golgi body, a single membrane enclosing a fluid-filled space where complex molecules are stored and modified, is a structure found in eukaryotic cells. It is shaped like a pancake.
